"Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven." (Matt6:10) Pretty much anyone with the slightest knowledge of Christianity recognizes this as part of "The Lord's Prayer". As it was taught by Jesus. Yet how often when there is a tragic event we hear people blaming God. "Why did God let this happen?"
If God is always in control why would we need to pray that the will of God be done. If God can do what ever he wanted when ever he wanted then we should see the conditions of heaven overwhelming this earth now. Unfortunately that is not the case.
It is recorded that John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist Church said, "IT SEEMS GOD IS LIMITED BY OUR PRAYER LIFE—THAT HE CAN DO NOTHING FOR HUMANITY UNLESS SOMEONE ASKS HIM.” We need to recognize that we are the agents in the field that ultimately determine how much God can do here. Free will means God cannot get involved in our lives or community unless we ask, we must invite him into situations and into our lives.
When we reference the Bible we find a very interesting fact about "God". 2 Corinthians 4:4 calls Satan the God of this world, besides that we find many times he is referred the prince, in the original language a ruler or magistrate. In other words if we want to look at who is really running things, making a mess and causing trouble look at the one called satan of Lucifer, prince of darkness. In fact Jesus calls him a thief in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." He is also referred as the destroyer, a deceiver, a liar and a murderer. He tres to be incognito and work in the shadows then let us blame God for his mischief.
If we understand this we also should understand that if we don't like the way he is running things we can cause a change in power by asking God to step in.
IN 2nd Chronicles 7:14 5 is says, If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, search for me, and turn from their evil ways, then I will hear their prayer from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their country." Whether if be personal issues or national troubles, it seems the same principle applies, God can only step in when we ask. Next time you see someone pointing the finger at God saying "why", realize there are four fingers pointing back at us. The bottom line in all this if you you want to see more godliness in our world, more peace, less trouble, pray for it.
As I mentioned on Sunday we have rented some space on Perry Ave, in an industrial park, in Norwalk. We will still be meeting Sundays at Trackside this does not change. This new space is for administration offices and act as a base of operations for expanding the ministry in a number of directions.
First of all we will be able to have small bible studies, prayer and other meeting such as discipleship classes and men's and women's fellowships. Our worship team can rehearse here. We will be exploring the possibility of opening an accredited Satellite bible school where we can offer classes that lead to a recognized ministerial degree.
The space includes a office area, rooms for small meetings and a warehouse area. The warehouse gives us opportunity to start a ministry we are calling "Crossroads Community Services". to help those who find themselves in difficulty. We will be collecting (repairing if necessary) and making available furniture, household items and clothing to help those who perhaps are victims of disaster or circumstances that cause them to be in need. As we help these families we open the opportunity to share the answer to most important need they have, a Savior, the Grace of God and His Love.
We are very excited about the opportunities for all of us to grow in our walk, in our service to others and our ability to impact our world for The Lord Jesus. I ask you to keep this in prayer and as we move forward I trust you will see opportunity to get involved. Also as I mentioned on Sunday this expansion has put additional demands on our finances. I am confident in God's leading us and therefore He supplies, but this supply comes through the hands of men and women. If you would like to help us financially in this, we thank you in advance and remind you that Jesus said in Luke 6;38 "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."

Your most powerful weapon...
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword,
Isa 55:11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
Jer 23:29 Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?
The word of God is infused with the very power of God, We often refer to it as "Anointed". By its very nature it carries the power of God that we can direct and release as needed. Never underestimate this power or your ability and privilege to wield it. We refer often to the power of the Holy Spirit in us and with us but it is the word of God that focuses the power like a laser to effect and produce the results in your life
The point being that God's word is not just words but as it says in Hebrews, Ephesians and Revelations a sword. It is a weapon God has given to us to be used anytime in every circumstance of life to clear away obstacles and bring to us the provision of God. Take hold of the Sword of the Spirit which is the word of. God. And use it to move forward in the Path of Life God has set before you
Eph 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
Eph 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
What do we do when it seems God is slow at responding, when we are in a very difficult situation and as much as we pray, beg, declare the word it does not seem to change.
Eph 6:13 Therefore take to yourselves the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
The evil day is not the day the enemy showed up, it is the day we feel like complaining, quitting, running away or allow depression and discouragement take over.
Paul says we are to all to stand so we can withstand.....
In other words, we must prepare for that time, so we can withstand and endure. The enemy will throw all kinds of things at us, the biggest and most common is discouragement and depression. Recognize these for what they are evil attacks to get you to surrender, give up, step back or run away.
If you are in that situation God knows where you are and he is well aware of the distress you are experiencing.
You are not alone - he will go with you never leave you.
Prepare yourself every morning for the battle - put on the whole armor or as Peter said in 1 Peter "Gird up the loins of your mind". That means to take control of your emotions, feelings and thoughts. Do not let them drive you. Let the Holy Spirit lead you.
Take hold of the word of God that applies directly to your circumstance, scriptures that will brace you to stand and stay the course. Sometime the victory is in the staying and standing. As long as Moses kept his hand raised (Praise and worship) the battle went their way, when he dropped them they would begin to loose ground. God says to us; "we can all things through Christ who strengthens us". All means all. If. It just not surrendering today, just casting down the vain imaginations, the thought that would move you to quit. Why did. God require Joshua. And the israelites march around for 6 days with no results, this is how faith works. We move forward not seeing with our eyes the victory in obedience and keep following along because the victory is there ahead of us, 10 steps 50 step 100 steps God knows we just keep marching toward it until it comes to us.

Words have Power.- Life principals 1
This morning we are beginning a series I am calling "Life principals from the Bible"
If you have read any self help books or gone to motivational seminars you will have likely heard some of the things we are gong to talk about.
some call these principals "New Age" but in fact they are operational laws of Life we find in the bible that others have adopted
The difference is when we talk about these we speak of them in the context of a relationship with God, and these principals set down by Him for our benefit.
So the first One we will look at it having to do with our words.....
It is very clear from Scripture that words ..your words are important...
But lets begin in Matt 12 where Jesus said....
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Mat 12:36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,
We understand people will be held to account for their actions and behavior but do you every consider that God will require people to give account of every word spoken... because words cause and affect our lives.....
Pro 13:3 Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
Pro 21:23 He who guards his mouth and his tongue, Guards his soul from troubles.
Words produce results good or bad,
Heb 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
We see here that the world we live in was created by words...
If we go back o the beginnings of the this book and to the description of the beginning of this world we can read....
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Gen 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Gen 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Gen 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
Gen 1:8 And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.
Gen 1:9 And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
In this passage we see a fundamental principal or law of this realm we live in...
it is as unchangeable and unbending as the laws of gravity...
Words have power to create.... to change things
God creates or framed as hebrews 11 says by speaking....
Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. (first day)
Genesis 1:6 And God said . . . (second day). God saw
Genesis 1:9 And God said . . . God saw....
Genesis 1:11 And God said . . . (third day)
Genesis 1:14 And God said . . . (fourth day)
Genesis 1:20 And God said . . . (fifth day)
Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness . . . (sixth day)
(NLT) Genesis 1:31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was excellent in every way. This all happened on the sixth day.
And he kept speaking every day until he had created the perfect world he had imagined....
Gen 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
As God place man in this world he created we too have the same power and responsibility to create by how and what we speak...
We create our world by our speaking .....
we take dominion over our world primarily by our words, ....We determine our future and destiny by our words.
The most important words that can ever impact a life are found in Romans 10:9-10-
Rom 10:8 But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim);
Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
These words change a person their very nature, their relationship with God, and their eternal destiny
Our lives are very much delineated by how and what we speak....
Matthew 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
(NLT) The words you say now reflect your fate then; either you will be justified by them or you will be condemned.
(Message Bible) Words can be your salvation. Words can also be your damnation.
Jesus said that words have the power to set the course of our lives.
Look at What James said ....
Jas 3:3 If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well.
Jas 3:4 Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs.
Jas 3:5 So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire
Look at the picture he is painting.,...
A horse is controlled and directed by us putting a bit in the mouth and as we pull the reins we turn the horse in certain direction....
The next picture is of a boat, He points out that on a big boat a small thing that is rarely seen called the rudder controls where it goes,
Finally it only takes what seems insignifanct as a spark can affect a whole forest.
Our seemingly insignificant words can have huge effects
And in our lives these are compared to our tongue,
more specifically what we are saying...
our words pull us certain directions or puts us on a certain track.....
It may seem words are insignifant and not very notable but in fact have a very great influence on out lives.....
If things are not going the way I like, I would examine my words....
Pro 6:2 You are snared in the words of your mouth, caught in the words of your mouth,
Our words can trap us and hold us down,
We never will live past our words, ... if you say you cannot you can't
If you say you will never, you will never...
Why do think God had Paul write for us,:
Php 4:13 I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Rom 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Isa 54:17 no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD."
God handed Joshua the mantle of leadership that was Moses....
Notice the promises and commands God Gave Joshua...
Jos 1:3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses.
Jos 1:4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory.
Jos 1:5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you.
Jos 1:6 Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them.
After declaring His promise and plan for Joshua who ultimately determines if they inherit all God has for them?
Jos 1:7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.
So How does Joshua stay the course, not turn off to the right or left.....
How can we like Joshua have good success?
Jos 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Where is the focus .. what is coming out of the mouth....
You shall meditate on it day and Night. (God's Word).
This word meditate is a little misleading to us.....
We think of the eastern definition of meditation... blanking out all thoughts and make some nondescript noise...
The word here translated meditate is in fact better translated mutter...
To speak under you breath.... it means to study and practice....
Or we might say rehearse....
How does on. Rehearse, the memorize and repea the lines. Over and over. They actor out the part until they have it down....
This same principle given to Joshua is for us also today....
We rehearse what God has sais about us and our circumstance until we have it down, and committed and it guides our way...our attitude and action
The world sees it then speaks it
We speak it then see it...
In Romans 4 Paul describing the faith of Abraham
Rom 4:17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
Who calls those things which be not as though they were.....
We Began this morning in Genesis 1 where we see God calling into existence this world
When He made a promise Abraham, he changed his name from Abram to Abraham
From exalted father to "The father of many nations"
Every time Abraham spoke his name every time he heard someone speak his name he was hearing or speaking the promise of God......
That even though he and Sarah were well beyond age for having children, he would have many.... and as we taaught a number of weeks ago he did beginning at age 100...
Our life of faith begins when we believe in our heart and confess with our mouth that Jesus is the son of God...
Our life of faith is forever bound to our confession... what we say
Mat 17:20 He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."
Faith is released by words and words lay the paths way we will walk.....
If you want to experience things differently begin to declare it/
Lets close with Romans 10:10
Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
Now this scripture is primarily applied in getting saved, but in fact the word translated "Saved" is also translated. - delivered from destruction, health, healing, salvation, saving, safety, rescue. Both spiritually and physically.
With this in mind, we find a strong principal of life here.
With our heart we believe and with our mouths confess declare and are delivered rescued healed brought to safety,
Or wherever whatever we declare.
Mar 11:23 For truly I say to you that whoever shall say to this mountain, Be moved and be cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he said shall occur, he shall have whatever he said.
Your conversation ultimately controls your circumstance-
1 Peter 3:10. For, "Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech.
Jas 1:26a You might think you are a very religious person. But if your tongue is out of control, you are fooling yourself.
Pray Psalm 141:3
Psa 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!
In closing pray this with me....
Lord Your word says Life and death are in the power of the Tongue.
Help me control what I say. Forgive me for any words that have brought pain, condemnation, criticism sarcasm or in any way hurt. Let my life and service to you be not in vain, because of I did not control my tongue.
Help me to speak words of life and love, and lift, encourage and build up others. Guide me in attitude action and speaking that I may reflect and show the love, mercy and Grace of God in Jesus Christ to my world.
I pray and ask the Holy Spirit empower me and guide me, enable me to be the man (or woman) of God you have called me to be in my words and actions.
Father as you say in Psalm 141 Put a guard over my mouth and a watch over my lips. I realize as James said that my tongue can set the course of my life. Set my Course by your will plan and purpose. Remind me by your Holy Spirit to meditate on and speak the word and will of God over myself and my circumstances. Teach me when to speak, and when to be still and pray.
Lord when I speak let me speak the truth in love.
Lord I want to grow and mature and keep my lips from speaking evil. I trust you to give me the desires of my heart, cause my thoughts to be agreeable with your will and cause me to follow your paths of righteousness in everything I say and do.
I than you Lord your Grace is sufficient for me in all things including what and how I speak.
I give you all praise and glory and honor for working in me, through me and completing this work in me by the Holy Spirit in Jesus Name Amen
There are those who see this tumultuous election as just another exersize in freedom and proof of the strength of our American system of Government. They claim it has no impact on the durability or longevity of our nation or freedom.. This nation has stood strong for some 240 years and will continue on indefinitely, I would hope so.
But the key question in this is why has this nation stayed strong. Why in our comparatively short history have we grown to be the world dominating economic, political and military superpower? Many point to our Constitution and government structure, the checks and balances of three branches, the individuals voice and vote, Freedom of speech and so on. Yes all these are very powerful in preserving this great nation but we need to look deeper.
What makes us outstanding against every other nation, free or otherwise? If we examine the history of this great country we find the motives and desires of the founders explain a lot. Many of the first people to bravely come across the sea and risk there lives came for one reason. Seeking freedom to worship God without anyone dictating or restricting their pursuit. Their desire was a robust personal relationship with the God of the Bible. This ,by the way, is the motivation for the "separation of church and state". Not to make religion illegal but on the contrary allow people to live their faith openly and pursue their God without government intervention.
As we move forward we can read the writings of many of those who authored our founding documents. It is very clear, though they had political grievances with the British Government, they were convinced, it was by divine direction that they purse sovereignty and independence.
If one reads the "Declaration of Independence" we find these references to God.
"assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them,""
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
"And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor".
Looking to Almighty God for direction, support and protection is very clear.
Benjamin Franklin stated in a speech to the Constitutional Convention: “We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that 'except the Lord build the House they labor in vain who build it.' I firmly believe this; and I also believe that without his concurring Aid, we shall succeed in this political Building no better than the Builders of Babel” (The Works of Benjamin Franklin, by John Bigelow, p. 377).
John Adams confirms decades later in an 1813 letter to Thomas Jefferson the original intent of those formative years: “The general Principles, on which the Fathers Achieved Independence, were the only Principles in which that beautiful Assembly of young Gentlemen could Unite…Now I will avow, that I then believed, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God” (John Adams to Thomas Jefferson, June 28th, 1813, from Quincy in The Adams-Jefferson Letters)
The founders' unabashed declaration of dependence on Divine Providence both for the justification of their cause and for the success of their endeavor should give us somethings to consider.
IN George Washington's farewell address he said:
"Of all the dispositions and habits, which lead to political prosperity, Religion and Morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of Patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of Men and Citizens. The mere Politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connexions with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in Courts of Justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition, that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect, that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who, that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric? "[*1]
I show all this to bring out one important point, the greatness of this nation as these men all point out is not in our system or political structure but the faith of the people in the Almighty God. In recent history this government has systematically been removing God as the guiding influence in Government education and law. Rejecting God corporately can only lead to one end, destruction. I believe it is foolishness to think this nation can continue to prevail and be strong or even stay free when we have turned our back on the one who by His Grace has given us all these blessings.
We see in recent years a decline in power, wealth, stability and safety. I believe these can all be attributed the the spiritual condition of the people of this nation. If we are to reverse the trends it will require an awakening like we experienced in the 1740-1760's with Wesley, Mathers and Whitfield or the mid 1800's with Charles Finny and other. All the social and political strategies will not help until we choose to seek God and His help.
"Those who refuse to study and heed history are doomed to repeat it." We can look at others, particularly the Jewish People, every time they thought they would go on without God they ended up in captivity.
The turmoil of the election season is only indicative of the deeper spiritual problems of this nation; turning way from the God of the Bible and the foundations that made this nation great. Neither candidate can save us, turning back to God is the answer Do not miss understand I believe we need to vote and vote for the person who will move toward Godly principals but that alone is not our answer.
Benjamin Franklin, during the convention, pointed to the scripture "unless the Lord Build the House...." and encouraged all to pray and seek God for answers, the solution today is the same.
2Ch 7:14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
"Now the just shall live by faith"
When we think of "living by faith", our prime example is Abraham. He is pointed to in both the Old Testament and the New as one we can learn from and emulate. If we study his life we find a man that made many mistakes but they never diminished his standing with God. Scripture says Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him as righteousness or right standing...
What was it that Abraham did do that trumped or superseded any and all his flaws and failures? He listened when God spoke to Him, believed what he said, trusted and obeyed. Abraham's life of faith began when God said to him, Abraham leave your house and family and go where I will show you....
A life of faith begins with hearing a word from God to you, believing it and acting accordingly. A life of faith is inseparable from hearing from heaven and obeying. "Man shall not live by bread alone but every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." This is a personal revealed word to you or me. Have you heard from heaven today, has God said something to you, showed you the next step, the way to go? I know he wants to it is his desire to, Stop and listen, give God an opportunity to speak into your life. One word from God can change everything. If you are willing to listen and obey.

Rom 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
Rom 12:3 For by the grace given to me I say......
It does not matter how good or bad your yesterday was, or even this morning, today you can expect good and better. Grace (God giving us undeserved help) is alway available not based upon a thing we did or will do it is based upon who God is.
The apostle Paul who wrote the major part of the New Testament started out arresting and murdering followers of Christ. In his writings he said; "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.". 1 CO15:10. If God can take this man from what he had done against the people of God to being one of the most powerful influences, in the world, for Christ, His grace can do a work in you and me also. We just need to let it and him do their work.
Grace says almighty God is there with you, ready to pick you up, strengthen, you guide you, enable you to do better today. This is the message of Philippians 4:13; "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me".
The Christian life should always be positive and optimistic. Not because of who we are, what we have or we can do but because of who God is and what he can do in his love, mercy and grace in you and for you.
Psa 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
When David began, He was a shepherd, insignificant in position, presence and ability. The youngst of the sons of Jesse.
He had a very significant attribute, a relationship with God
He was content with his place, a shepherd who can play a harp and worshiper of God and developed the skills of a shepherd, knowing the terrain, including the ability to protect his sheep wIth a sling.
It was this seemingly limited inglorious ability that propelled him to leadership and notability
